100% Responsibility
Info

Our attitude influences what we think, which in turn affects how we feel, which in turn drives our behaviors, which then determines our results. This interactive workshop focuses on the first step in this process — having a positive attitude. 100% Responsibility is Team Trek's foundational principle and it drives all of our training and development programs and workshops. Participants learn they have free will to choose their attitude, they are the only person they have control over in their life, and if they want circumstances or people in their lives to change, they are the only person they have the power to change. This means no blaming, excuses, or disengaging. We use the power of story to teach people about personal responsibility.

Trust
Info

Trust is an essential "building block" of a high performing team. On a low performing team, lack of trust is a major source of dysfunction and disengagement. Low trust on a team functions much like a hidden tax - you can't see it, but it takes its toll on the team's ability to deliver results. In this interactive workshop, participants learn what it means to not only be trustworthy themselves, but also to extend trust to others and trust them to do their jobs. In addition, they have the opportunity to assess the level of individual and team trust, and learn how to rebuild trust, especially when it's been damaged.

Healthy Conflict
Info

We have a natural aversion to conflict in our relationships. We may need to put up with it on occasion, but for most of us, our default mindset is probably to avoid or limit conflict as much as possible. However, conflict exists as part of every relationship, professional and personal. In this interactive workshop, participants learn how to have conflict that is healthy and productive, creating deeper understanding, building trust, and discovering best solutions. Whatever our attitude is about conflict will determine how we behave during conflict, so participants learn the important of choosing a win/win or no lose attitude.

Communication Workshop
Info

Successful leaders have empathy - the ability to be aware of others' feelings, pick up emotional cues, and adjust their behavior accordingly. In fact, lack of empathy is often cited as one of the main reasons otherwise successful leaders fail. This interactive workshop focuses on increasing your empathy and awareness of others, a key capacity of Team Trek's Leadership Profile©. You learn how to use empathy to be a more effective listener, overcome the barriers to listening, and discover how to use your "whole body" to be an intuitive listener. Finally, you learn a model for communicating in a clear, non-fuzzy manner.

Emotional Intelligence (EI)
Info

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

We explore why EI competencies are now considered the strongest indicator of success at work — as much as 70% of individual performance. No one person has strengths in all 12 of the EI competencies; however emotionally intelligent people have at least one competency in each of the four EI clusters. Highly effective people tune into themselves (Self-Awareness), stay cool (Self-Management), connect with others (Social Awareness), and provide great service (Relationship Management). We also offer the 360-degree Emotional & Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) developed by Daniel Goleman to measure EI.

EI Self-Awareness

Self-Awareness is THE foundational EI cluster and strongly influences our ability to develop the other EI competencies. Self-Awareness is recognizing and having a deep understanding of our emotions, our strengths and limitations, our values and motives, and how they impact other people. In this interactive workshop, you have the unique opportunity to begin developing your own Personal Compass with an emphasis on understanding and living your Core Values on a daily basis.

EI Self-Management

Self-Management is our ability to keep our impulsive feelings and emotions under control; see our world as a glass that is "half-full"; pursue our goals despite obstacles and setbacks; be adaptable and flexible in handling change; and strive to meet or exceed standards of excellence. In this interactive EI workshop, you learn about amygdala hijacks and triggers, and understand what causes them. More important, you develop coping strategies to stay cool.

EI Social Awareness

In this interactive workshop, we learn about Social Awareness — our ability to hear, be open to, and understand others' thoughts, feelings, and concerns, even when only partly expressed or unspoken. In addition, it's our ability to understand the culture, political forces, social networks, key power relationships, and values in the organization, and how they impact the way people think, feel, and act. Empathy and listening are key behaviors, so you have the unique opportunity to assess your own ability to listen.

EI Relationship Management

Relationship Management is where emotional intelligence becomes most visible to others. Our competencies in this cluster impact the motivation and performance of others, but they depend on our Self-Management and Social Awareness skills. In this interactive workshop, you learn about Relationship Management, our ability to have a positive impact on others and influence them to listen; help others through tense situations with diplomacy and tact; inspire a team without being in a formal leadership role; and enjoy working as part of a team.

Adaptability
Info

We are relentlessly challenged with change, both personally and professionally, and it requires that we build and flex our adaptability muscle. What may have worked for us in the past, no longer works in our 24/7/365 world. In this interactive, thought-provoking workshop we first explore how we react, adapt, and commit to change, and then how to influence and guide others through change. Our hope is that you will think of change as what you choose to do to remain successful, not what you have to do when your success finally runs out.

Strengths
Info

Our strengths are so much a part of us that we are barely aware of having them. They are innate and, unlike skills, we're not able to transfer them to another person. When we're using our strengths, our work is effortless and energizing, and we actually perform better when under stress. Leaders who want to engage the heads, hands, and hearts of their people are wise to help them discover, leverage, and apply their strengths. In this interactive workshop, participants learn how to be more productive and feel more fulfilled, then pay it forward to other people and to their organizations.

Career Snapshot
Info

Many promising professionals expect their superiors to mentor them, coach them, and provide them with challenging career opportunities. But in today's world, managing our careers is our own responsibility. This interactive workshop focuses on the soft assets so critical to being effective CEO's of our own careers — our core values, core purpose, vision, skills, strengths, environment, and measures of success. During the workshop, you receive worksheets for discovering and/or creating each of these soft assets. Most important, you will learn how to apply your assets on a regular basis.

Leadership Styles
Info

Just as great carpenters use many different tools, great leaders use different leadership styles depending on the task, people involved, situation, desired outcomes, and available resources, especially time. At Team Trek we have identified eight different leadership styles that can be used depending upon the person or situation. The great value to a leader comes when the styles are used seamlessly and people hardly notice the shift from one to another. During this interactive workshop, participants learn how to apply different leadership styles. No one style works all the time and all styles are appropriate in certain situations. Choosing the right style requires empathy, an essential leadership competency.

Influence
Info

Influence is our ability to have a positive impact on others, build support rather than exercise authority, and persuade others to support our ideas and objectives. When the power between two people is unbalanced, we need influence to be successful. In this interactive workshop, we explore the drivers of influence — trust, listening, and decision making. Then participants learn how to intentionally put themselves in someone else's shoes and use WIFM (What's Init for Me) to discover and appeal to the other person's self-interest. WIFM is a way of finding common ground, so meaningful discussion and dialogue can then take place.

Feedback
Info

We have many opportunities on a daily basis to give feedback. It's a core coaching competency and a key component of self-awareness, performance appraisals, and corrective action. Despite its importance, many of us are reluctant to give constructive feedback; most of us are hesitant to receive constructive feedback. The result is that we often either deal with feedback ineffectively or avoid it altogether. In this interactive workshop, participants learn how to approach feedback as a mutual exchange of information and viewpoints done in a respectful and safe way. They are able to learn and practice steps in giving and receiving feedback, and to always be open to the "gift" of feedback.

Integrity
Info

In virtually every survey conducted, integrity is selected most often as the most important leadership characteristic. Integrity is the "heart" of leadership because leaders can buy your head and hands; but they have to earn our hearts and we have to be willing to entrust our hearts to them. Integrity is essential for leaders to influence others, build mutual trust, establish credibility, and make wise decisions. In this thought-provoking, interactive workshop we explore the impact of integrity on the leader, on his/her followers, and on the organization. Participants have the opportunity to complete a confidential integrity self-assessment and take action to close any gaps.

Conducting Effective Meetings
Info

Despite the title of a popular book, "Death by Meeting," it's not the way most of us want to spend our final hours. While many of us don't share the belief that most meetings are deadly; few of us look forward to meetings. And yet, most of us are unwilling to eliminate meetings entirely. So the challenge becomes, how can we have effective, efficient meetings so issues are addressed in a healthy way, problems are solved, decisions are made, and people commit to taking specific actions? How can we do it in a way that people actively participate, develop stronger relationships, and feel respected? This interactive workshop answers those questions and many more.

Listening
Info

Listening is consistently identified as a major shortfall for most leaders. Active whole body listening builds trust, increases engagement and creates a safe environment where the exchange of ideas produces solutions to complex problems. The good news is the fact that this is a learned competency. The Team Trek Listening Workshop is geared to help leaders in any role increase their effectiveness by honing this vital skill.
